On Friday 11 August 2023, at 10am, Divine Service by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider was held in Tama City, Tokyo . The typhoon had little effect on the service, which had been feared, and it was a time of great blessing.
Although there are various theories as to when Christian missionary activities in Japan began, one of the leading theories is that Francis Xavier and his party landed in Kagoshima on 22 July 1549 and began their missionary work. However, following historical and geopolitical developments, the percentage of Christians in the total population is estimated to be around 1%, according to the 2022 Religious Yearbook￫ of the Year 2022 published by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
The preaching the gospel of the New Apostolic Church began in the 1960s by District Elder Harvard Packe and District Evangelist Yoshiharu Yahata, but the number of church members is small, reflecting the aforementioned situation.
The sermon was based on John 10:9. " I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture."
